Strength Training

fitness-resources-wtsStrength training can build strength, sculpt the body, improve anaerobic endurance and overall wellbeing.

Fitness Resources works with elite athletes, weekend warriors, men and women who want to sculpt their physique or just improve overall strength and endurance. Fitness Resources provides a comprehensive strength evaluation the staff uses coupled with your personal goals to design the appropriate personal strength training program for you.

Our strength training uses progressively increasing weights, a variety of exercises and types of equipment to target specific muscle groups.

For clients that are athletes, strength training builds in the performance and also decreases the chance of injury. An example, a golfer on the appropriate strength training program has better trunk rotation and therefore can potentially drive the ball farther and more accurately.

Strength training is more than just doing bicep curls. Our strength training program includes a variety of movements that increase core strength, balance and stability. This is important for all our clients from elite athletes to weekend warriors, rehab patients to people managing chronic diseases.

Strength trainging provides significant physical benefits and improvement in overall health and well-being, including increased bone, muscle, tendon and ligament strength and toughness, improved joint function, reduced potential for injury, increased bone density, increased metabolism, increased fitness, improved cardiac function, and improved (“good”) cholesterol.

Diabetics –
Fitness Resources works with Type II diabetic clients by implementing a strength training program in order to increase muscle mass. The more muscle mass (cells) an individual has, the more receptor sites for the transporters (insulin) of glucose. Meaning more receptor sites for glucose or sugar in their bloodstream helps control diabetics type II diabetes. This can be life altering for our clients because now they have an opportunity to live a more normal life without potentially fewer health concerns.

Seniors –
Senior clients benefit from strength training and increased muscle mass in order for them to retain their power, balance and coordination of the body. This too can be life-changing, because there can be less fear of falling and overall improvement of ability to perform daily tasks without losing balance. (senior citizen falls are less often due to age but more often due to loss of the motors (muscles) to take their foot up without stumbling.
